What is the difference between GMR and PMR?

GMR (General Merit Rank) is based on the combined scores of Paper 1 and Paper 2 and is used for Engineering admissions. PMR (Pharmacy Merit Rank) is calculated strictly based on Paper 2 (Physics & Chemistry) and is for Pharmacy admissions.

Can students from outside West Bengal appear for WBJEE?

Yes, candidates from other states can appear for the exam. However, they are treated as General category students and can only apply for All India quota seats in specific institutions, not for government colleges or tuition fee waivers.

Is there negative marking in WBJEE?

Yes, but only in Categories 1 and 2. Category 1 has a -0.25 penalty and Category 2 has a -0.50 penalty. Category 3 has no negative marking.
